Oak Inframe kitchen

Its all in the details:

The brief was for a natural solid wood kitchen to compliment an existing item of furniture, to follow on into the breakfast room.

I wanted to make sure the colour of the oak was consistent throughout the whole project. After many discussions on materials, European Oak was the choice and I purchased three trees/Butts, with my merchant yet again supplying some fantastic boards. I believe the overall success of the job was down to the high quality and consistency of the timber.

Full stave worktops all oiled to match, complimented the design with a single Mistral top used around the sink and behind the Hob, offering easy maintenance and durability.

The doors are hung on modern style concealed hinges offering adjustability with soft close on all the doors, and a total of 24 dovetailed drawer boxes also on soft close runners. These details make for a modern kitchen in use but without affecting the traditional style and offering maximum storage.

The design was a little complex, with many requirements from the customer to work around. The design continued into the adjoining breakfast room with a dresser style storage unit as a feature end wall, with glazed doors to the centre and a quirky bookcase that was designed to fit into an existing unused doorway offering access from either side when the door was opened, a very novel piece to design and construct.
